Library story times for babies and toddlers in Williamson County

Story time is my go-to free morning. It's indoors and free, and nobody minds if a toddler melts down halfway through. When the weather cooperates, my list of free playgrounds and parks covers the outdoor version.

These are the fall 2026 schedules, checked October 7. Libraries pause for holidays and staff training, so it's worth a look at the calendar the morning you go.

Story time by day

Three systems, three calendars

The county, Brentwood and Spring Hill each run a library, so there are three calendars to know.

Williamson County Public Library has six locations: the main library in Franklin, plus branches in Bethesda, College Grove, Fairview, Leiper's Fork and Nolensville. Its event calendar is at wcpltn.org/calendar.aspx, and you can pick a single branch. Some older story time pages from past years still turn up in search, so go by the calendar.

The John P. Holt Brentwood Library is run by the City of Brentwood. Its calendar is at brentwood-tn.libcal.com, and the day view is the easiest to read.

The Spring Hill Public Library is run by the City of Spring Hill. Its calendar is at springhilltn.libcal.com.

One search tip: williamsonlibrary.org is the library in Williamson, New York. It comes up for "Williamson library story time," and it isn't ours.

The county libraries

Main library, Franklin

1314 Columbia Avenue. Every story time here runs twice, at 9:30 and 10:30am, so if the first one is full or nap runs long, there's a second chance.

• Babies & Books, Tuesdays, 0 to 18 months
• Toddler Story Time, Wednesdays, 18 months to 3
• Pre-K Story Time, Thursdays, ages 3 to 5

Nolensville

915 Oldham Drive.

• Toddler Story Time, Tuesdays at 10:30am, 12 months to 3
• Preschool Story Time, Thursdays at 10:30am, ages 3 to 5
• Baby & Me Song & Story Time, Fridays 10 to 10:45am, for babies up to 18 months
• Craft Time, Fridays at 11:30am, kids of all ages, no registration

Bethesda

4905 Bethesda Road, Thompson's Station. Story Time on Wednesdays, 10:30 to 11:30am, for toddlers and preschoolers.

Leiper's Fork

5333 Old Highway 96, Franklin. These two don't run every week, so check the calendar first.

• Preschool Story Time, Tuesdays 10 to 11am, ages 3 to 5
• Toddler Time, Wednesdays 10 to 11am, 18 to 35 months. It's capped at 12 kids and you need to register.

College Grove

8607 Horton Highway. Story Time on Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30am.

Fairview

2240 Fairview Boulevard. Story Time on Thursdays, 11am to noon, for ages 3 to 5. They also host special guest story times now and then.

Brentwood

John P. Holt Brentwood Library, 8109 Concord Road. If you live in Brentwood or nearby, this library plus the county system gives you a story time almost every weekday.

• Toddler Time, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 to 10:30am, 18 months to 3
• Preschool Storytime, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 11 to 11:30am, ages 3 to 5
• Baby Bounce, Thursdays, 9:30 to 10:30am, up to 18 months, with bouncing rhymes, songs and time to play. It runs in sessions, so check the calendar for the current dates.
• Saturday Storytime, Saturdays 10:30 to 11am, with a break in June and July. This is the one to know if you work weekdays.
• Baby Discovery, Mondays 11 to 11:45am, 6 weeks to 24 months
• Preschool Open Play, ages 2 to 6, and Baby Open Play, 2 and under, on some Monday mornings. Check the calendar for dates.

Some Brentwood programs hand out free tickets at the Children's Desk about 30 minutes before they start. The calendar listing says when one does.

Spring Hill

Spring Hill Public Library, 144 Kedron Parkway.

• Baby Time, Mondays 9:30 to 10:30am, and the first Saturday of the month, birth to 2
• Story Time, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 to 11am, for preschoolers

A few tips

The rooms are small and the popular ones fill up. Getting there ten minutes early is usually enough.

Libraries skip story time for holidays and staff training more than you'd expect, and the calendar is where that shows up first. A quick look that morning saves a wasted trip.
