Pumpkin patches near Franklin that actually work with a toddler

Fall lists around here tend to be the same eight farms with the same photos, and half of them are still running last year's dates. These are the 2026 dates as each farm publishes them, plus the operational stuff that decides whether a trip with a two year old goes well.

Gentry Farm, Franklin

1974 New Highway 96 West. The closest option and the one we would pick first with a little kid.

Season: September 26 to November 1, 2026. Saturdays 9am to 5pm, Sundays 1pm to 5pm, Mondays 9am to 1pm. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing.

Admission is $13 per person, free for children under 23 months and visitors over 65. Pumpkins are priced separately, usually $2 to $12, and the farm suggests coming early in the season for the best variety. They grow about 20 acres a year, including heirloom and ornamental varieties.

What works for the under-5 set: the tractor playground, farm animals, tire swings, wagon rides, the kids' play area, the indoor maze and the grain barn. The corn field maze, mini golf and arcade games are aimed at bigger kids, so do not build the trip around those.

Two things worth knowing before you commit. There are portable restrooms only, no permanent facilities, which matters a lot if you are mid-potty-training. And leashed service dogs are permitted while emotional support animals are not.

The farm estimates one to two hours to see everything, which is an honest number and a manageable one.

Lucky Ladd Farms, Eagleville

4306 Rocky Glade Road. About half an hour out from Franklin, and a bigger operation than Gentry.

Fall Harvest Festival: September 16 to October 31, 2026, with the pumpkin patch and corn maze.

Everyone age two and older needs an admission ticket, so under-2s get in free. Admission covers unlimited access to the petting farm, zoo and fun park during scheduled hours. Pony rides, the petting farm and the fun park are the toddler draws.

Buy online before you go. The farm's own warning is to plan early because of a high likelihood of selling out during October. That is not marketing language, it is on their events page.

One to skip with little kids: a-MAZE-ing Glow Nights on October 23 and 24, an after-dark corn maze with glowing pathways and dark turns. Limited capacity, expected to sell out, and firmly an older-kid event.

The petting farm and fun park close for winter once the fall season ends.

Honeysuckle Hill Farm, Springfield

1765 Martins Chapel Church Road. The farthest of the three by a good margin. Springfield is north of Nashville, so this is a day trip rather than a morning out.

Fall Festival: September 26 to November 1, 2026. Saturdays 10am to 8pm, Sundays noon to 6pm, most weekdays 9:30am to 1:30pm, Fridays 9:30am to 6pm, and 10am to 6pm daily during Fall Break, October 12 to 16. Closed Mondays and select weekdays outside Fall Break.

Pricing is the highest of the three and there is no free toddler age listed:

Admission covers more than 20 activities. The toddler-appropriate ones are the carousel, petting farm, tree house village, jumping pillows and the hayride, plus the weekend shows: raccoon band, pig races and the pumpkin cannon. The zip line, obstacle course and corn maze are for older kids. Premium attractions need separately sold punch cards, $14.95 to $26.95.

For a family with one small kid, the math here is hard to justify against Gentry. For a family with a five year old and a toddler, it makes more sense.

Franklin Pumpkinfest

Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25, 2026, on Main Street downtown. Saturday starts at 10:00am, Sunday ends at 6:00pm.

This is the 41st year and the first time it runs two days, which is genuinely new for 2026. Expect autumn food and drink, live music, costume contests, and a marketplace of seasonal arts and crafts. It bills itself as the largest family fall festival in Middle Tennessee, and the crowd matches.

Honest advice for a toddler: go early Saturday or not at all. The costume contest is the piece built for little kids. We found no dedicated kids' zone listed on the official event page, so do not plan around one. Admission cost is not published.

The free one

Family Day at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, Saturday November 7, 2026, 10am to 2pm. Free, run by the City of Franklin, with wagon rides, pony rides, a petting zoo and cane pole fishing.

Every other fall roundup you will read leads with $13 to $30 ticketed farms. This one costs nothing, it is in Franklin, and the activities are scaled right for little kids. Put it on the calendar now. It is on our list of free things to do with a toddler in Williamson County too.

A note on two others

Walden Pumpkin Farm in Smyrna has not published 2026 dates, and a July 2026 listing showed it as temporarily closed. We could not confirm either way. Call before you drive.

Morning Glory Orchard in Nolensville is the only other in-county option we found, and their own site says they will not have u-pick this year. Since u-pick is the whole draw with little kids, we are leaving it off until that changes.
